This report is the 8th edition of the study of the market for niobium and niobium products in Russia, the EAEU countries and its development forecast.

Market monitoring has been conducted since 1997.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the market for niobium-containing concentrates, niobium pentoxide, ferroniobium, metallic niobium, and niobium ligatures. The position of niobium and its raw materials in the world market is briefly considered.

Objects of study: niobium ores, niobium concentrates (pyrochlore, loparite, tantalite), niobium pentoxide, ferroniobium, metallic niobium, ligatures and alloys.

This review is the most complete among those presented on the information market on this topic and claims to be a reference tool, because. Rosstat reports do not contain information on the production volumes of niobium-containing products, and not all manufacturers report data on the production of these products. The use of fragmented, unsystematized data can lead to the adoption of erroneous management decisions by marketing services and specialists working in the niobium market.

The second distinctive feature of this work is the breadth of the geographical and time frames - a detailed analysis of the production and foreign economic operations with metallic niobium and niobium-containing products was carried out not only in Russia, but also in the CIS countries in the period 1997-2022.

This work is a desk study. As sources of information, data from the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat), official statistics of railway transportation of the Russian Federation, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS of the Russian Federation), the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Statistics, the State Statistics Committee of the CIS, the UNdate database, Tantalum- Niobium International Study Center (TIC), Infomine databases. The data of industry and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers, websites of manufacturers and consumers of niobium and niobium-containing products were also involved. Materials of Infomine reviews were used: “Review of the market of rare earth elements (metals) in the CIS and the world” (11th edition, 2018), “Review of the market for tantalum and its products in the world” (1st edition, 2017).

Timeline of the study: 1997-2022; forecast - until 2030

Research geography: Russian Federation - comprehensive detailed market analysis; countries of the EAEU and the world - an analysis of foreign trade activities and fragmentary consideration of production.

Scope of the study: the report consists of 8 parts, contains 139 pages, including 51 tables, 48 figures, 4 appendices.

The first chapter of the report gives a brief description of the world market of niobium raw materials and metallic niobium (reserves, mining, production, export-import of ferroniobium by country, global consumption structure).

In the second chapter of the report, the mineral resource base of niobium in the CIS countries (in more detail in Russia) is considered, the structure of reserves and the characteristics of the main deposits are given. The conditions of Russian producers of niobium in concentrate are described.

The third chapter of the report is devoted to the analysis of plans for the development of new niobium deposits in Russia. The development of the Zashikhinsky and Tomtor projects is considered in more detail.

The fourth chapter presents an analysis of the production in Russia and Kazakhstan of niobium-containing products (ferroniobium, pentoxide, metallic niobium, ligatures) in 1997-2022.

The fifth chapter of the report considers foreign economic transactions with niobium concentrates, ferroniobium, niobium pentoxide, niobium metal and niobium ligatures in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine in 1997-2022.

The sixth chapter gives the dynamics of prices for ferroniobium and niobium pentoxide in the world and Russian markets.

The seventh chapter is devoted to the consumption of niobium in Russia. In this section, the balance of production-consumption of this metal is compiled, the structure of consumption is given.

The eighth chapter discusses the prospects for the Russian niobium market up to 2025 based on an analysis of the development of consuming industries. On the whole, the state of the branches of the national economy using niobium and the prospects for their development give the right to assert that the growth in consumption of this metal will continue in the near future.

The appendices contain contact information of manufacturers and consumers.

Target audience of the study:

– niobium market participants – producers, consumers, traders;

- Potential investors.

The proposed study purports to be a reference tool for marketing and management decision makers working in the niobium market.
