This report is the second edition of a study on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) market, covering both the global market and the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries.
The study aims to analyze the PET market in Russia and the EAEU countries (which, in addition to Russia, include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan), as well as the global market for this product.
The subject of the study is the thermoplastic material—the most common representative of the polyester class—known as polyethylene terephthalate (PET, PETG, Lavsan, Mylar, Terylene, Dacron; chemical formula (C10H8O4)n).
This work is a desk-based study. Information sources included data from the statistical committees of EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, and the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases such as UNdata, the World Bank, and Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Unified Information System in the Sphere of Procurement; railway transportation statistics; the SBIS database; data from specialized foreign companies; annual and quarterly reports from securities issuers; industry and regional press, conference materials, and the websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (eLibrary, etc.); the FIPS patent database; the Infomine database; and others.
Chronological scope of the study: 2015–2025; 2026 estimate; 2027–2036 forecast.
Geographical scope of the study: Russia – comprehensive, detailed market analysis; Global and EAEU markets: a comprehensive retrospective market analysis.
The report comprises 7 sections and spans 182 pages, including 51 figures, 93 tables, and 2 appendices.
The first chapter focuses on the global PET market, presenting data on production capacities, international trade, sales prices, consumption, and development prospects for the global PET market.
The second chapter details the industrial technologies used for PET production, production capacities within the EAEU, and the primary raw materials required for manufacturing.
The third chapter analyzes PET production in the EAEU. It outlines product quality requirements, tracks production trends, provides output data for the 2015–2026 period, and profiles leading manufacturers and their current status.
The fourth chapter analyzes foreign trade in PET for Russia and EAEU countries between 2015 and 2026. It presents export and import volumes, outlines the geographical structure of shipments, and analyzes data on specific PET exporters and importers.
The fifth chapter details PET price levels on the Russian domestic market and analyzes trends in export and import prices for the product in Russia from 2015 to 2026.
The sixth chapter focuses on PET consumption in Russia and the EAEU. This section presents the production-consumption balance, outlines the structure of product application in Russia, examines key areas of PET usage, and describes the largest enterprises consuming the product.
The seventh and final chapter focuses on the forecast for PET production and consumption in Russia and other EAEU countries through 2036.
The appendices provide contact details for Russian PET producers and major consumers of the product.
Target audience:
– market participants involved in PET and the raw materials used for its production;
– potential investors.
This study is designed to serve as a reference guide for marketing departments and decision-makers operating in the chemical industry.
