This review is the ninth edition of a study of the hydrochloric acid market (synthetic, off-gas, and inhibited) in Russia and the EAEU (CIS) countries.

Market monitoring has been conducted since 2000.

The objective of the study is to analyze the Russian hydrochloric acid market.

The object of the study is hydrochloric acid synthetic, off-gas, and inhibited.

This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); rail transportation statistics; the SBIS database; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; Industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (e.g., elibrary), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.

A distinctive feature of this study is the division of hydrochloric acid by production method (synthetic, waste gas, and inhibited) and a detailed study of each type of this chemical. In addition, in-plant consumption of hydrochloric acid was examined in detail.

Study timeframe: 1997-2025; forecast: 2026-2030/35.

Study geography: Russian Federation – comprehensive detailed market analysis; other EAEU countries – brief retrospective analysis.

The review consists of 6 chapters and contains 125 pages, including 60 tables, 33 figures, and 3 appendices.

The first chapter of the report provides information on the raw materials required for hydrochloric acid production and their characteristics. This chapter also provides a detailed discussion of hydrochloric acid production technology. Furthermore, it provides data on the main raw material suppliers, delivery routes, and volumes.

The second chapter of the report is devoted to hydrochloric acid production (divided into synthetic, off-gas, and inhibited) in the EAEU countries. This section of the report presents statistical data and estimates on hydrochloric acid production volumes in the CIS from 1997 to 2025. Furthermore, the qualitative indicators of the resulting products are presented. A profile of the largest acid producers is also provided.

The third chapter of the report presents data on foreign trade in hydrochloric acid between Russia and the EAEU countries (delivery volumes, main suppliers, and consumers of hydrochloric acid) from 1997 to 2025.

Chapter 4 presents information on domestic Russian market prices from 2008 to 2025, and also analyzes data on changes in export and import prices for products in Russia from 1997 to 2025.

Chapter 5 of the report examines hydrochloric acid consumption in Russia from 1997 to 2025. This section presents the production-consumption balance for this product, the industry structure of consumption, identifies the main consumers, and describes the current status and development prospects of the largest consuming industries.

Chapter 6 of the report presents a forecast for the development of the Russian hydrochloric acid market through 2030/35.

The appendices present hydrochloric acid prices on the Russian market by manufacturer and type (synthetic, exhaust, inhibitor), provide key market indicators by manufacturer and type, and provide addresses and contact information for hydrochloric acid production companies in the EAEU countries.

The target audience for this study is:

- hydrochloric acid market participants – producers, consumers, and traders;

- potential investors.

This study is intended to serve as a reference guide for marketing departments and specialists working in the hydrochloric acid market.
